About Greenfield Vet

Greenfield Veterinary Hospital is proud to have served the Pittsburgh area since 1979. We are a well-established, full-service, small animal veterinary hospital providing comprehensive medical, surgical and dental care. We provide a broad spectrum of diagnostic procedures through in-house testing and the use of external laboratories. We also work closely with local specialists when special diagnostic procedures or treatments are required.

Our team is committed to providing the highest level of medicine along with friendly, compassionate service. We are a group of highly trained, experienced animal lovers who are devoted to giving our patients the best care possible. Our job is to not only treat your pet when he or she isn't feeling well, but to also help you keep your pet happy and healthy.

*We currently see dogs, cats, ferrets, rabbits and pocket pets. We are not accepting new avian patients at this time.

Alison Berkebile

Dr. Berkebile received her veterinary degree from Saint Matthew’s University in 2014, located on the sunny island of Grand Cayman. She completed her clinical rotational year at the University of Illinois before returning home to western Pennsylvania to begin her veterinary career. After a few years in small animal private practice outside of the Pittsburgh area, she returned to Greenfield Veterinary Hospital in 2017 in a part-time capacity. Doctor Berkebile may be a new face to many clients, but did you know she used to be a technician at GVH years ago?

Practice Manager

Carey is a graduate of Chatham University (BA, MBA). She began her career with animals working at the Animal Rescue League (now Humane Animal Rescue) in 2002. Carey was with GVH from 2005-2012 as a part-time receptionist and came back in 2015 as the practice manager. She has a Doberman named Buck that she rescued, as well as two long-haired rescue cats named Angel and Maggie.  Carey is involved in rescue (she co-founded A Little Bit of Snuggles Dog Rescue in 2002) and loves to get to know the pets that visit the office every day. In her spare time, she enjoys creating glass mosaics, trying her hand at stained glass, learninig the cello and mentoring through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh.

CERTIFIED Veterinary Technician

Isabelle joined us in November of 2017. She has 3 dogs; Xena, Luna, and Benson, and 2 cats; Alfie and Donut. In her free time she enjoys agility training with her dogs, painting “art dolls” and baking. Her favorite thing about being a vet tech is radiology and anything to do with abscesses! She also enjoys expanding her knowledge and skills every day.

lead Certified Veterinary Technician

Samantha grew up in Greenfield, right up the street on Winterburn. She went to Taylor Allderdice High School and then graduated from the Vet Tech Institute in 2012. She first worked at a specialty hospital for 4 years in emergency, internal medicine, and surgery. She brought her many years of experience to GVH in 2015, wanting the chance to develop relationships with her patients and their handlers. She has one son named Nathaniel and is expecting her second son this spring (2020). Samantha also has 4 fur babies; 2 dogs, Mardi Pardi (adopted from Vet Tech Institute) and Athena (the Destroyer), given to her by a friend that didn't have the space or energy for her (truth be told, no one has enough energy for her), the Queen of the castle, her cat Angel, and newest member, Smitty the kitty.

Customer Service Representative

Shawna is an undergraduate student studying biology at Carlow University. After she finishes her degree, she plans on studying veterinary medicine. She has two large seal point Siberian Forest cats, Scooblie and Romeo, a rescued orange tabby named Catniss Evernip and a new rescue kitty named Harry. Scooblie and Romeo are both almost 20 pounds and extremely lovable. Her favorite part of working at GVH is being able to help you and your pets. Seeing them get better and thrive is the most rewarding aspect of working in the animal field. Another great thing about working here is that we are like a big family. Shawna truly feels like this is her home away from home.
